Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy welcomes cryptocurrency donations

Dec 13, 2021

Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy’s mission is to fund novel research to develop cell and gene therapies to cure cancer. The driving force for this mission is donations, no matter how big or small.

No matter if it’s traditional money or digital currency.

The Alliance is excited to announce the acceptance of cryptocurrency donations for cancer research. We’ve set up a page on the ACGT website specifically for cryptocurrency gifts aimed to support cancer cell and gene therapy initiatives.

Many non-profit organizations now accept cryptocurrency through The Giving Block, which manages this type of donation for non-profits. The Giving Block partners with Gemini Exchange to transfer cryptocurrency balances to traditional currency for ACGT, allowing us to apply the funds to support critical cancer cell and gene research that will lead to breakthroughs in treatments for patients.

This new donation method offers website visitors more options to join our Alliance to fund life-saving cancer research.

Types of cryptocurrency accepted

Cryptocurrency donations to ACGT are managed by The Giving Block, which accepts 61 different types of cryptocurrency. Some of them are: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Aave (AAVE), Alchemix (ALCX), Amp (AMP), Ankr Network (ANKR), Balancer (BAL), Axie Infinity Shards (AXS), Bancor Network Token (BNT) and BarnBridge (BOND).

If you’re interested in whether we accept a specific cryptocurrency, visit our donation page. You’ll find a dropdown menu with all the possibilities. We thank The Giving Block for helping us accept cryptocurrency so seamlessly.

One vision – a cancer-free future

Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy has already spearheaded a significant breakthrough in cancer treatment. Our early funding of cancer cell and gene research has led to five FDA approvals of CAR T-cell therapies for blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

However, an even greater number of people suffer from solid tumor cancers. ACGT’s next step is to harness the power of the immune system’ against these malignancies, with a particular focus on glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer, two of the solid tumor cancers with the highest mortality rates. Cancer cell and gene therapy has the potential to break through the challenges in treating these two cancers.

Setting the Alliance apart from others is how donations are used. We direct 100% of donations toward cancer research programs, such as:

  • Brian Brown, PhD, of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, developing a technology to engineer a patient’s own T cells to kill immune-suppressing cells, eliminating a major barrier to immunotherapy treatment.
  • Sidi Chen, PhD, of Yale University School of Medicine, developing a technology to stimulate the immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells with a focus on pancreatic cancer.
  • Noriyuki Kasahara, MD, PhD, of University of California, creating a genetically engineered virus vector carrying a suicide gene for glioblastoma.

A cryptocurrency donation goes entirely 100% toward life-saving cancer cell and gene therapy research. Thanks to our supporters we’ve seen exceptional results in blood cancers, and your donations will drive success in solid tumors in the near future.
