Leigh Haskell Perkins III became a donor to ACGT at 13 years old. She has remained a supporter of the mission to advance cell and gene therapy research for cancer.

Leigh Haskell Perkins III was not your typical 13-year-old.

While most kids her age were busy with school, friends and hobbies, Leigh had a burning desire to be a difference-maker thanks to her family’s belief in the power of giving back.

She found a way to make an impact with Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT).

Leigh’s journey into the world of charitable giving started 10 years ago when she stumbled upon ACGT, the first and only nonprofit organization committed to advancing research for the underfunded-but-promising discipline of cancer cell and gene therapy. Intrigued by this mission and driven by her passion for science, Leigh made her first donation to this cause.

How ACGT’s mission inspired Leigh to keep donating.

Leigh Haskell Perkins III has been a donor to ACGT for more than 10 years.

ACGT is committed to funding innovative scientists and biotech working to harness the power of cell and gene therapy to transform cancer treatment and drive momentum toward a cure. Since 2001, the organization has been a catalytic force in shaping entirely new cancer treatment models by identifying, funding, and advancing the most innovative and impactful translational research in cell and gene therapies.

This work is possible thanks to ACGT’s donors – people such as Leigh, whose contributions to the foundation grew as the years passed, reflecting her unwavering commitment to the cause.

Leigh devoted time to research and educated herself on different charities, but ACGT always stood out. Her commitment to supporting ACGT and helping fund cell and gene therapy research was backed by meticulous research and ratings from the Better Business Bureau, which confirmed the organization’s credibility.

ACGT builds trust with Leigh through funding process.

Leigh’s faith in ACGT was rewarded with the knowledge that her donations were being utilized in the most impactful way. The organization’s dedication to vetting grant applications and supporting the best and brightest ideas in the field of cancer cell and gene therapy – with the help of the foundation’s esteemed Scientific Advisory Council – filled Leigh with a sense of pride.

“It’s not just about donating money. It’s about knowing that your contribution is making a real impact, and ACGT ensures that by involving renowned experts on the organization’s Scientific Advisory Council.”  — Leigh Haskell Perkins III, a 10-year donor to ACGT

Leigh’s donations reaching the 10-year milestone of continuous support is a testament to her commitment and compassion. Her journey from a young girl with a desire to make an impact in the world to becoming a savvy donor for cancer research exemplifies the transformational power of education and experience – proving how a small act of generosity could lead to a world of change.
